چکیده

Introduction Amorphous materials have no long-range order at the atomic length scale and show different properties as compared to typical crystalline materials. Among of them, amorphous alloys are in thermodynamically nonequilibrium, crystallized by heating and used as catalysts and catalyst precursors. Investigations on the relationships between their catalytic performances and structural changes during the crystallization process of amorphous alloys are quite interesting research topics. To active catalysts, skeletal metal catalysts were also prepared by acid or base treatment of alloys. In this study, porous Ni catalysts were prepared from Ni-Zr alloys via heating at various temperatures and following HF treatment for extraction of Zr moieties. XAFS analyses were performed to clarify the effect of heating on the catalytic performances of thus obtained porous Ni catalysts.

Microstructural evolution of body-centered cubic structure related Ti–Zr–Ni phases in non-stoichiometric Zr-based Zr–Ti–Mn–V–Ni hydride electrode alloys

Non-stoichiometric Zr-based alloys were prepared, and the corresponding electrochemical properties were characterized as hydride electrode alloys. The microstructure and chemical composition of non-stoichiometric Zr–Ti–Mn–V–Ni hydride electrode alloys were systematically investigated by x-ray Rietveld refinement, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and energy dispersive spectroscopy under T...

Hydrogen evolution from Zr-based amorphous and quasicrystalline alloys

The combination of local tetrahedral order and favorable chemical composition makes amorphous and quasicrystalline Zr–Cu–Ni–Al alloys good candidates for hydrogen storage applications. Hydrogen evolution from these alloys has been studied by means of thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS). The characteristics of hydrogen desorption from an initially quasicrystalline phase are analyzed in detail ...

Compositional Dependent Amorphization in Zr Alloy Films by Means of Ni-Implantation

Ni-implantation has been conducted for sputter deposited Zr alloy films to investigate compositional dependent amorphization behavior in proportion to Ni in Zr alloys. As-deposited Zr and Zr–Cu with thickness of 200 nm shows columnar hcp-Zr and nano-crystalline hcp-Zr(Cu), respectively. Implantation of 150 keV Niþ with the amount of 1 10 ions/cm induces amorphization of Zr and Zr(Cu) with 100 n...
